Bronzer 101
While dewy skin is the mandate for winters, a golden bronzed look is what summers are all about. However, don’t just stop at adding warmth to your face with your bronzer. We spoke with the experts behind the perfectly bronzed skin of Kim Kardashian and Eva Longoria, to give us three more ways of maximizing the utility of our bronzers.
Sculpting
Contrary to popular belief that a bronzer merely deepens your skin tone, it also lends dimension to the face and brings out your features.
“Bronzer is a great way to get a more chiseled look” says New York-based make-up artist Mario Dedivanovic, who is responsible for Kim Kardashian’s perfectly bronzed skin. For medium skin tones like those of actor Priyanka Chopra, dust matte bronzer onto the hollow of your cheeks, then along with your jaw and hairline. For a dusky tone, use bronzer with a hint of shimmer. Take notes from Bipasha Basu who brings out her cheek bones with a dusting of a shimmery bronzer.
Eyes
Instead of eyeshadow, try using bronzer for a summer switch up. Whatever your skin tone, eyes are enhanced by skillfully applied bronzer. Using a shadow brush, apply a dark bronzer on your lid creases and upper lash line. Add shimmer to the inner corners, then finish with mascara. “Your eyes will look huge,” says make-up pro Elan Bongiorno, who works with Eva Longoria Parker. Closer home, Bollywood actor Jiah Khan complements her bronze skin with a similar shade on her eyes to bring about a glossy monochromatic look.
Body
For a sexy beach or party look, sweep sheer, sparkling bronzer over your neck and collarbone with a fluffy brush. “It catches the light when you move,” says Bongiorno.
